About Us

"Finding your perfect fit since 1958."

After Dad cut his teeth with Wohl Shoe Co., Henry “Bud” and Marcia Lou Ungar decided it was time to move to Cleveland. Upon arrival they had one dilemma: where was Marcia to buy shoes for her size 10 ½ narrow feet?

Rather than searching far and wide they decided to open their own shoe store in the beautiful, Old Arcade in the heart of downtown Cleveland. Named after Marcia Lou, Mar-Lou Shoes was born in April of 1958. What a sigh of relief for Marcia’s poor aching feet!

From 1972-1994, Mar-Lou Shoes expanded to four new locations. Throughout the course of the next decade, all four stores folded into one large store in Lyndhurst, Ohio where we continue today. Our company grew into one of the largest shoe stores in Ohio and by far the one with the largest selection of fashionable, hard-to-find sizes for men and women. Many customers have shopped with us since 1958, and each week we add hundreds of new customers.

On January 29, 2014, we lost Bud to cancer. He fought valiantly and passionately just like he did for so many years in the business. Dad aspired to be the best “shoe man” in the country, and he did so by providing for the needs and wishes of hundreds of thousands of customers throughout nearly 60 years in the business.

The assortment of footwear we carry, the knowledge of our staff, and our dedication to finding the perfect fit define Mar-Lou Shoes. Whether you need a walking shoe, boot, dress shoe or something for everyday, our goal is to make your feet feel great. Your feet support your entire body; let us support your shoe buying experience.

From the bottom of our hearts we thank you for shopping with us. I promise we will do our best to make your online experience as positive as an in store one.

With kind wishes and a hearty “Thank you for your business” I remain,

Very truly yours,

Daniel Ungar
